Spiritual well being has been at the core of The New England Deaconess mission from its beginning. Our care and concern for the elderly reaches beyond physical and emotional issues to the eternal significance and worth of everyone. One definition is as follows: "Spiritual well being is the affirmation of life in a relationship with God, self, community and environment that nurtures and celebrates wholeness." To that end, a resident Chaplain is part of the staff and ecumenical/inter-faith religious nurture and experience is provided to residents, families, and employees. The Rev. Twila Broadway, a United Methodist Pastor, is our present Chaplain.

At our Concord Campus, Duvall Chapel is a place for regular worship, religious observances throughout the year, and individual meditation and prayer. Funeral and/or memorial services are provided there. Residents learn and share together at a weekly Bible study. Also, the Chaplain will offer weekly ‘Meditation for Mind, Body and Spirit.' Occasionally, van trips to a retreat center for a day-apart for spiritual formation will be provided. Our Chaplain is on call for spiritual counsel and pastoral care for residents and employees.
