In The Gardens, our memory support program, the person, not the disease, is our focus. We foster an environment of habilitation, autonomy and choice, love and belonging, a setting where individuals can re-create themselves. We strive to provide our residents with successful experiences and support them in making contributions.
The elderly have a variety of interests, abilities and needs, all of which are nurtured by our staff. We also follow the social model for services and programming, which emphasizes involvement in activities of life at whatever level is possible or desired.
All services will focus on assistance. Our role is not to “do for,” but to “assist with” each resident’s identified needs. Through this emphasis on assistance and the staff’s careful attention to dignity, residents in The Gardens Program will receive fully supported independence.
Activity and service intensity will be determined by the interest, abilities, and functional limitations for the identified Resident’s needs. An individualized service plan will be developed for each resident, using a team approach with the Resident, family and staff participation.
These standards and practices provide a standard of care for residents in our Programs. Each resident is unique, with a lifetime of experiences and memories. Each resident is entitled to live a life with dignity, and to have a sense of trust and control in their environment. It is essential that everyone who interacts with our residents be knowledgeable, compassionate and sensitive to the importance of every interaction.
